This is only my first impression after playing the game merely for about 3 hours the night it came out. I know I'm supposed to play it thoroughly before giving a final opinion, but I believe that the initial impression it has made on me is extremely valuable to share. I was very enthusiastic and a little bit wary of the new game. Not because of the controversial issue everyone was talking about: the grapchis style, but rather due to the gameplay. I was quite dissapointed in the gameplay in Ocarina of Time so I couldn't help but feel some dread with this new installment. I am happy to say that my doubts were unfunded. I found the gameplay extremely engaging and clever. The stealth bits of hiding under a barrel and having the guards ("ugly cows" as my son calls them) sniff out the barrel without discovering you are truly priceless. The sailing bits are incredibly absorbing and pleasureable. Unfurling your sail by a raft on the wide open sea is truly amazing. You sit there and bob in swells on a breathtaking landscape. Graphics: A topic of much controversy. There is only one word to describe the graphics: superb! Nintendo should be congratulated not only for what they have been able to achieve with this new graphic style but also for sticking to their conviction that it would work amidst so much rumbling and grumbling. The subtle effects they have achieved would have been impossible with any other graphic style. The characters expressions are phenomenal (Link, the guards, etc) and lend so much more to the gameplay. The nuances with fire and light are spectacular and really blend in well with the overall design. The sea landscape is breathtaking and goes a long way to reduce the tediousness of long sea voyages (of which, I've read, there are a lot). Overall this game (so far) deserves a perfect 10. The only reason I have not given it so is because I have only played it for 3 hours.
