Worthy of the Zelda title but not the best in the series

User Rating: 9.2 | The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess GC
Zelda Twilight Princess is a great game that copies a lot of things from Ocarina of Time but still manages to add some new interesting elements and some not so great new additions to the gameplay. The gameplay is almost exactly like Wind Waker, although a little dumbed down. In Twilight Princess you can only assign weapons to two buttons now instead of three as in the Wind Waker, although choosing your weapons is a little easier than in previous Zelda titles, it still feels like it could have been better the way used in Wind Waker. Another change to the gameplay is that now Link uses the shield automatically, you don't have to manually press a button to block. This was one of my biggest disappoinments with the game. Manual blocking has been an essential part of previous Zelda games, adding more strategy to the gameplay. You would have to time your attacks and when you saw a specific enemy movement you knew to hit the block with shield button but no more. This also adds to make the game easy, overly easy. You will probably never die in a battle with any enemy as long as you keep attacking. The puzzles are still as great as ever with some interesting additions from previous Zeldas. There are also many things to do from fishing to flying a dark beast in Hyrule. In the twilight realm you transform into a wolf, however your abilities are more limited and it's not as fun as playing with human link. Overall the gameplay manages to be refreshing but is a step down from previous Zeldas. Graphics are among the top graphics on the Gamecube, there are some low poly models and bad textures here and there but considering the world is huge, it still looks very good. The water and scenery look great, the weather changes and day cycles still look great. The twilight realm looks unique and interesting but not as good as the light world. Sound is great as well, you'll listen to familiar tones, although there's no voice acting to speak of. The game takes about 40-60 hours to complete, it is a really big game and there's a lot of stuff to do. From mini-games to collecting treasures this game can keep you occupied for a very long time. The world is immersive and looks impressive. And although the gameplay feels kind of dumbed down, it is still very fun to play this game.
