A dull yet sometimes exciting mess.
STORY-7/10
This game really has NO thought out story. Just because of the fact that this game is based on one of my favorite trilogies...Lord of the Rings. If you've seen the movies you should know exactly what is going on in the game. In the game there isn't much explanation so that's why I'd recommend watching the movies first. The Story mode only gives you 8 missions to choose from and they are pretty tough missions at times, but mostly easy. You can also play the missions from the evil side's perspective in a "Destroy the Ring" mode. It also features 8 missions that seems much more fun because you can kill all of those annoying Hobbits. You can also play the Story mode with a friend to make it even easier.
GAMEPLAY-5/10
The gameplay for this game is what got me pretty excited but also pretty mad and disappointed. You can choose from 4 different classes. Warrior,Archer,Mage, and Scout. All of these classes are cheap and unfair in their own way--which kind of give it some awkward balance of chaos and shifty gameplay. Anyway, these classes all have their own array of special abilities and weapons, which also men there are MANY cheap ways to die. Whether it's getting back stabbed by an INVISIBLE Scout, or getting knocked to the ground by a Warrior and getting relentlessly pounded to death and not being able to get up. In a nutshell, It just gets VERY dull after a while just because of dying from the same thing. What also gets me is how people call this "Battlefront with swords". I really don't mean to sound like a nitpicker but it isn't. First off, Battlefront had a max of 400 NPC's fighting at once. THIS has a whopping 16. Second, the maps in this game are VERY enclosed--you just don't get any space. It's a good try for Battlefront, though. This game is also playable online. The online is just as cheap and annoying as the single player. The server are also dead these days--there just isn't much to be said.
GRAPHICS-6/10
The graphics for this game didn't really catch me like I thought they would. It REALLY looks like the could have put more time into it. It looks very grainy and for the most part, just not too good. One really cool feature is that the maps you play on look just like they do in the movies.
SOUND-5/10
The sounds of this game sound pretty "unrealistic" if you will. all of the weapons just sound alike. All of the swords sound the same, all of the arrows sound the same--you get my drift. the sound track for this game is pretty good ,though. It brings back alot of the music from the movies and just makes it feel "epic". Although, the music while in combat can get very dull.
VALUE-9/10
This game is GREAT for the value. Check your nearest bargain bin for this one. It's sure to be in there. You can get this game for about 10 bucks these days. It's good for a quick game that you want to have fun with but for a nice low budget.
WRAP UP- 5.5
For the most part, This game had me pretty disappointed. It felt NOTHING like a Battlefront game (which is what I heard). The gameplay is cheap and annoying, the story is very predictable if you have seen the movies, the sound are just dull. It was just really a harsh lesson to NEVER trust movie based video games, but hey, they get pretty cheap now don't they? Check your bargain bin for this one. You'll find yourself going back to it from time to time.
