A great LotR game that is worth having in your collection
The story is really the only mode on this, but it comes with a nice co-op mode that functions as well as single player. In the story there are 3 paths to follow: Path of the King(Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli), Path of the Wizard(Gandalf) and Path of the Hobbit, which surprisingly let you take control of Sam, until the last level where you get to be Frodo and fight Gollum. All of the paths do a great job following the movie. And the path of the is the longest and the path of the wizard is the shortest.
The combat is a nice, well done system that allows many combos and some upgrades that you purchase using XP(experience points) that you gain by killing enemies in different ways. They fall under 4 different catagories: fair, good, great, and perfect. As you probably know perfect is the best and fair is the basic. When a character get to lvl 10 they can purchase a sig move(such as Legolas shoots 2 arrows from his bow)
In the gamplay the combat is not repeatitive at all(well if you lrn to use combos). All the combos are cool and rewarding to acsess and use and fit perfectly with the character dealing the blow out. Theres also ranged attacks as well, hachets for Gimli, knifes for Merry, Sam, Pippin, and Frodo, Magic for Gandalf, and bows for Legolas, Aragorn and Faramir.
And theres also unlockable characters seen in the movie, totaling the number to 9 characters. They are: Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Gandalf, Frodo, Sam, and the unlockables are: Faramir, Merry and Pippin.
Overall this is an Xbox original masterpeice that is good to have even if you have a 360 like me. Its an experience that is good for everyone.
