Definitely worthy of The Matrix franchise.

Believe the hype. Diss the hype. But you really can't beat the hype. And that's what killed off the lesser 'Matrix' sequels, and of course their spin-offish game 'Enter The Matrix' (ETM). As every gamer knows by now, ETM "wasn't all that". It was a mediocre, but at times fun game with an overhyped reputation. It failed as a game, but really provided as a cash cow.

But everyone knows that story by now. On to the real topic. Path Of Neo, a game shrouded in anticipation and dislike...
And to answer the billion dollar question many have also asked & answered by now: No, it does not suck!
But "Path of Halo", it ain't. If you're looking for a game that redefines action titles as we know them, look elsewhere. If, on the other hand, you prefer a fun fighting game that does justice to its source material, you're on the right track.

Graphics are good, and really simulate the Matrix effect. Wether it be the neat 'Code Vision', the detailed character models or the environment, everything is in its right place. Although I feel that a little more polish wouldn't have hurt the game before release, but hey, Atari... Overall I can think of no serious flaw regarding the graphics.

Audio is more than decent, considering all the major sound effects from the movie were included *clink clink* and although I've heard some complaints about the soundtrack, to my opinion it fits the game quite well. The game has decent voice acting. I'm not sure if it's really Keanu & Co behind the mic, but they definitely get the job done.

Gameplay... Sweet. I loved the 1st Buffy game's combat system, and I never thought I'd be so eager to play through an entire fighting mechanic again. Which is, basically, the game at its core. A fighting mechanic. But with more variety, style, and potential than any fighting game that came before it. It leads no doubt that this game was created to make the player feel like he's The One. And it succeeds on almost every level. It's a fun, challenging, ever expanding system. And it's addictive...

There are a few minor points. The gun controls are fairly hard to master and require more than a bit practice. And you may experience some occasional framerate slowdown on older Xbox systems.

Be warned: a revolutionary groundbreaking game, this is not. But if you're into cool beat-em-ups, and/or have a soft spot for The Matrix universe, you owe it to yourself to at least check this 'One' out. Unlike its predecessors, it won't disappoint. And isn't that what the trilogy is about?
