It's great that we can now play as the One, but that is quickly forgotten when you look at the aweful character models.

Fans have waited a long time to play as Neo and now they can. The game starts off in an office building with agents and security guards trying to catch you. This is where you start to see the game's flaws. Now normally when you are going back against the wall, you press a button to go up against the wall, then press it again to get off it, but not in this game.... Instead, to get off the wall, you just have to move the analogue stick away from the wall. Does not sound too bad, right? Wrong! Even the slightest movement away from the wall with the analogue stick takes you away from the wall, which can be very annoying when you are trying to stay hidden. Now, if you can manage to not blow your cover, when you are against the wall, you can hardly move the camera around. The camera is normally in a good position but not always.

Another problem is the graphics, especially the character models. The characters are just horrible to look at, period. Now the environments are pretty well laid out . In the level where Neo and Trinity are in a helicopter trying to get to and save Morpheus one of the levels in the building falls down and it looks pretty cool. It's probably scripted but it's still pretty good looking.

The controls are not too bad but the combat is just a whole bunch of button mashing. The shooting controls are awkward and... well, just awkward - you have to hold down R2 and then shoot with R1. I guess when you get used to it, it won't be so bad but I just found it hard to get used to. I think the reason for the targeting button to be R2 is because your bullet time button is L1 so you can't really use that as the targeting button, but it's still awkward to use.

To sum it all up, this is still a pretty good game, and probably the best in the series. So, Matrix fans should like this game, although newcomers to the series might not like it because of the noticeable flaws. If you're not sure about this one, you should probably rent it first.

I also want to add that I didn't play through the whole game because of the problems, but it does a pretty good job of summing up the first movie, which was nice for filling me in on the story since I haven't seen the first one. I don't really have a problem with the story telling. It is just how the game plays and looks that is a real downside.
