An innovative video interaction.
The Path is more a video interaction. It gives you the opportunity to interact with, and in, a true horror story. Nothing is all spelled out for you. You basically choose your own path to Grandmas house and the rest I'll leave out as to not spoil the story.
The game gives you little feedback as to where to go or what to do, which adds to the creepy factor. However, at the end of each "level" is a list of items and rooms unlocked, which tells me that I could definitely go back and do some more exploration and probably increase the experience of the story.
This game looks simply amazing. Not because of some flashy graphics engine either, but because ever detail is well thought out, smooth, extremely nice to look at, and adds to the overall horror effect.
There are no guns. I know sounds lame, but this is really what a horror story is all about right? Helpless child lost in the woods? Creepy sounds, fog, images... did I say creepy sounds?? Oh, and in a true horror story nothing good happens...
Horror factor: 10
Graphics/visuals: 10 (Not a new up to date engine, but the presentation is simply marvelous, this was a well made, and thought out, game)
Sound: 10 (it adds a significant amount to the creepiness)
Re-playability: 10
Game Play.... or Interaction: 10
Story: 11? No, 10!
Overall Score: 10
This game is 10 dollars on Steam and has a lot more value then some of the crap being sold for 50 dollars these days. I hope to see more work from the team at Tale of Tales, as they are very talented.
