Finally, a quality Simpsons game...

User Rating: 8.4 | The Simpsons: Hit & Run PS2
Since the first Gameboy outing for the Simpsons, the game series has been plagued by substandard software. The Simpsons Hit & Run aims to change all that. And it does. The Graphics in the Simpsons really are quite good. While the TV series is in 2.5D (2D characters, 3D backgrounds), the game if fully 3D. It does sometimes look strange, but Lisa, Bart and Marge are great. Apu is alright, but Homer is, admittedly, awful. The lip-synching is quite good and all the different characters, buildings and vehicles have a good sheen. I give the game 8 out of 10 for graphics. The Gameplay is what makes Hit & Run really out-shine other GTA pretenders. The game really is funny and genuinely amusing, which can be hard in any videogame. In my opinion, Hit & Run is better than DRIV3R and just as good as True Crime. The missions have a various theme, such as destroying someones car, getting somewhere before someone, collecting items falling out of the back of a van and sometimes a platformer mission. I give 9 out of 10 for gameplay. The Sound is actually really authentic, with catchphrases from the TV series. The engines sound really good and the voice-overs are great. So a big 9 for the Sound, then. The Simpsons Hit & Run is now available for £20 from most GAME or EB stores. I recommend it to any Simpson fan.
