Are the Sims 2 expansions losing their touch?

I feel like the Sims 2 creators are now just thowing out ideas in the form of expansion packs nowadays. At least when the Sims 2 game first came out, some of the expansion packs were at least worth checking out. Now, times have changed. They need to either merge all of these expansions into one game to add-on to the Sims 2 original game, or simply stop making these unimportant add-ons.
Stick with the original Sims 2 game, and maybe try a few add-ons like, Pets, Open for Business, Seasons (interesting), or Nightlife.
However, the latest expansions, like the 'Stuff' add-ons, are unnecessary. You could probably find just as good add-ons by downloading from the Sims 2 official website. There are many good downloadable items you can install to your Sims 2 game if you know where to look. A lot of Sims fans out there have created cosplayed characters from other games, like the final fantasy series (haha), clothing items, household items, etc.
So, you shouldn't even bother with the 'Stuff' expansions. Go stay with The Sims 2 game, and some of its 'better' expansion packs.
