So does the console version step up?

No is the answer to that. lests face it the pc version is more open, has more expansions and therefore has more to do. But that does not mean to say that this is a total waste of time. I love it. Its just one of those games that is really fun to play.
The thing you will notice at first is how easy it is to play and is not as complicated as those that came before. No longer swill your sims need to pee 29 times a day. your lucky if you have to go once! SERIOUSLY! its that good. This leaves more time for exploring the various locations such as beach bars and even the football stadium.
You still have the usual get a job and learn skills tasks to do as well as making friends, throwing parties, woo woo etc.
Music in the game is as previous titkes (ie when you turn on a radio) which is nothing special and its not the most graphically stunning of games but then i never really noticed.
Im not going to spoil it for you but i do recommend this game to everyone. Once you get past the initial learning curve which will take about 30 mins just to get used to things etc you will have a lot of fun with this game.
