The first The Suffering was an excellent game. It was creepy and unique. The monsters were very strange and disturbing. The sound effects and flashes of horrible images would startle you and make you very uneasy.

The Suffering (1st one) was scarry, very scarry. I had never seen a syringe monster! The way it would jump up into your face...wow!

The Suffering: Ties That Bind is more of the same, but not as good. They have rehashed the same stuff...it's no longer new or unique. I was pretty bored with it. The story doesn't go anywhere, the ending (mine anyway) was abrupt and unsatisfying. The gore is cool, and there are a few moments when presented with a puzzle that are interesting. But overall, there is nothing new here.

If you are considering The Suffering or The Suffering: Ties That Bind....Get the original (The Suffering). The island is a much better setting than Baltimore, which is the setting for the 2nd game.

TTB looks good but is not that exciting.....or scarry.
