User Rating: 7.9 | The Suffering XBOX
Alright, I LOVE being scared to death. I think we're all kind of addicted to that sort of thing, what with haunted houses, horror movies, and Alien Encounter at Magic Kingdom in Disney World. *tremble* Anyway, there are three types of people, the way I see it: THose who are immune to fear of that sort of thing, those are terrified to death of it, and those who are in between, like me. I'm terrified by it, but I love the adrenaline rush, the feel of risking your life, and the overall increased blood pressure increase. All that being said, I'll tell a bit about the Suffering. I was attracted to the game for reasons above, and I wasn't too disappointed. The graphics could have been much better, and the controls were somewhat unwieldly, but the fear you get out of it definitely makes up for it. Imagine walking down a dark corridor and hearing the sound of a gurgling breath in the distance. You stop, look around, see nothing but shadows and move on. The breathing gets closer, and you know that something is in the room with you. You check everywhere, but realize that you haven't looked up. As you tilt your head back a blade comes out of nowhere and stabs at you, and the music increases to a fast-paced run-for-your-life beat. Hoo boy, this game is definitely good. At 30 bucks for a new one, it stands on the verge of being a renter or a buyer. It really depends on your budget, I guess. There are three different ways to play through the game, so it has some extended value to it. I suggest buying.
