A sequel to a movie from the 80s and does the impossible and proves to be a great game under everyone's radar
Graphics are awesome, filled with some good snow effects and detail, the aliens in their gory forms are well detailed, facial animation is pretty good, its not like Silent Hill or Resident Evil with a dark, unsettling enviroment, you're in Antarctica, but what it lacks in darkness makes up for paranoia, each character you run into have their own personality and ability, Medics will heal you, but can't heal themselves, Engineers can fix fuse boxes, soldiers, well, they make s*** dead, you control up to three guys, your job is to keep them on your side and stop them from turning into the alien, the trick is that you don't know who it is, Bob could be normal while Jimmy could be the alien or is it Bob? They'll come out at random, depending on your relationship with them.
Sound is awesome, weapons sound powerful, voice acting is pretty well done and there's no music, save for the end credits, which is After Me by Saliva, there is plenty of ambience, it'll take time to get used to the controls, but once you do, you'll be fine.
The Thing is another movie-based game that some really well and doesn't hold back on anything, challenging boss battles and a really fun experience, The Thing needs some recognition and this review and many others give The Thing the justice it deserves
