From beginning to end, a great solid title with excellent gameplay. The graphics were wonderful despite some who said they weren’t quite up to par. Both the cut scenes and the immersive New York environments were great to look at and play through. Even though the face of some of the players may look stretched at some times, the over all look were well detailed. The sound was another plus. The music ranged from the great theme of the Warriors to Joe Walsh to Fear. All in all the music was great and didn’t get annoying or repetitive at any time during the game. I only wished they would have had a couple more songs to fill the game with. A little more diversity would have been another plus. The voice overs were also excellent. During the whole game I didn’t catch one mistake with either a sloppy mouth movement or a voice problem, it was perfect. Ok blah, blah; now with all that finally out of the way it’s time to get to the main course, the gameplay. Since I liked Manhunt and seeing the mirror image game play styles between the two I enjoyed the gameplay of the Warriors. The controls were great except for one small problem. For me the warchief commands were a little awkward to execute, and almost impossible when in a fight. I’d find myself calling out different commands while fighting because I would some times click in the left stick while fighting and call out random commands. The fighting controls on the other hand I found to be perfect. The basic combat, grapple, ground and sprint attack controls were smooth and easy to execute in a very small amount of practice. That is what really makes this game great. The fighting is both fun and challenging. You could beat the hell out of the guy, smash a bottle across his face, or blind him with spray paint. It’s just fun to fight in this game. The extras in the game made this title fun and increased its replay value in order to get the extras and unlock new characters. From tagging over your enemies burner, buying weapons and flash, robbing people and breaking into stores. There are a lot of things to do besides the missions. Running away from the cops after robbing a store I found to be entertaining. Either brawling it out with the cops or hiding in the shadows till the heat wears off. The cops in the game add an extra amount of fun into it. If they happen to catch you or a fellow Warrior you can try to unlock the handcuffs by clicking both triggers while trying to race a meter. The gangs in this game are great and have there own unique style. From the skinhead Turnbull ACs, to the small time Orphans, to the hard hitting Baseball Furies, there are a large amount of gangs to rumble with. This leads me to the multi player mode. You and a friend can go through the story mode together or against each other in the different rumble modes. From a king of the hill type fight, to a royal rumble type fight, to a straight one on one fight. I'm positive you’ll find something fun here that you like.
This is my first review and hope I did at least an ok job doing it. Being a big fan of the movie, as soon as I heard they were making The Warriors into a video game, I was exited to play it. I enjoyed reviewing it as much as I did playing it. I just hope I did it justice.
I absolutely loved playing this game. Multiplayer story mode action is the best and I even loved that the default Splitscreen was vertical and not horisontal. If you love beating people senceless with a good story line, ... Read Full Review
