Wanted to wait for sale, since I didn't like Witcher 1 that much, but gave into the hype and the game did not disappoint

User Rating: 9.5 | The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings PC
I've got to say that Witcher 2 takes most of the things that were not so great/boring in Witcher 1 and makes them better. Some things are possibly a little bit worse, but I've learned to live with them so that they don't bother me at all. I think it's definitely one of the best RPG of the year, probably the one that has the most "soul" and you can see that developer was not just trying to make money off the game but to create something that has an artistic value. Bioware and Bethesda need to learn from them, since they produce utter nonsense lately.

Pros:

- Combat system is much much better than in Witcher 1, where it could put me to sleep. It's not easy, but it's very rewarding. You have to plan your battle ahead, time your attacks, consider which sign to use when and also keep track of all the enemies on the screen. It's definitely not easy and takes some getting used to but it sure as hell fun.

- Graphically the game is stunning. And it runs quite well. I'm not quite sure what people are complaining about but I have no problems running this game. Granted I have a relatively new PC, built it about a year ago, but it's definitely not top of the line.

- Sounds and voice acting in this game are great too. Definitely better than in the first game. At least the english version of it.

- Story seems to be more lively and keeps you more on the edge. Where in Witcher 1 it was pretty good but didnt really keep you engaged, at least for me, in this game it definitely keeps your interest up throughout the game.

Cons:

- Weird installation process, which made me install the game twice because I couldn't download activation patch. Was partly my mistake but it could have been made simpler.
- It's sort of difficult to open the doors in this game. If you are too close to a door you wont be able to open it. You have to walk away, turn around come a little bit closer and then you can open it. I suspect it has to do with animation sequence that has to happen, but it's very annoying.

As you can see my list of cons is pretty small (well, I've not played through the whole thing yet, so maybe I'll find more annoyances, but maybe not, who knows) and the bugs are minor. Overall, this game is definitely worth the price and then some. One of the best values you'll find this year, even at $50 original price. You get the game, a bonus dvd, a map, game guide, and some other small stuff. All this for $50 and this is not even collectors edition. Other games would charge you $80 or more, but this comes standard with this game. That's awesome.
