Personal Review of the game, what I thought while I played this game. Everyone has their own opinions. That was mine!
Before the game came out, i desperately tried to not think about it. I knew that whenever I let myself loose, search more info about this game, I would become way too excited. I am alraedy too excited about skyrim so i tried to behave about witcher 2. Also less I know, less spoilers I see. Before you continue, review might consist minor spoilers, so you have been warned as well.
Story
First of all, story is everything what game must have. If game has idiotic graphic, then good story will make you forget about everything else and makes you concentrate on the story, the objective. You want to know what happens next and what to do. Witcher 2 had amazing story. More amazing the most of the stories you can see out there. Reason is that there is loads of choices you have to make. Some choices are obvious for you. These choices are called your personal choice. You may think „Dude, that dude sucks, so of course I will kill him!" and others may think „If i let him live, then he will be useful later. Of course I will let him live" and some may think both, what makes choice hard. Game is full of these kind of choices. And sometimes when you need to choose between two or three very epic choices, it becomes extremely hard to make your choice. It may take long time before you choose.
Witcher 2 creators have made excellent story with excellent choices. Story itself is very amazing and choices what may change the outcome totally, makes the story even better.
Story score: 10/10
Gameplay
Gameplay is amazing. It has many similar stuff to the original Witcher, but there are some major changes. Mostly, how much simpler it has gone. For example in Witcher 2, you don't need stance anymore. You can go easily against all opponents, but you can choose, do you go fast attack, but slow damage, against opponent or you may make slower attacks, but way bigger damage. It all depends from your opponent state. Sometimes you can't do anything else except quick attack, else he will just kill you instead.
Sadly there is one thing, what got into my eye. And it wasn't only me, many of my friends had same thought. The game can be 2 things. Very easy or ridiculously hard. If you go with easy, you do not have any problems almost nowhere. If you go normal difficulty, game is ridiculously hard. It isn't even close to normal difficulty. I played game with normal and i had loads of places what were just so hard, that i had to switch to easy, to beat that part. Mostly there parts were places where huge army came to kill you, and you can't just block all places. Monsters doesn't have to be strong to overrun you. So what will you do? Curse the monsters and reload. Then if you happen to that slot again and you die again, you curse the game and switch to easy. Sometimes I wondered, why do I have to switch back to normal in the first place? Game is very unbalanced. I can't imagine how crazy person must be, to go and play the game with insane mode.
Else gameplay mode is fun. You run around, because of ridiculous unbalance, you want to talk things into peaceful way, if possible and you can make choices what you prefer. And then later when you see consequences, you start thinking "What would have happened, if...?" – that's when you go second playthrough. Game is supposed to have 40 hours gameplay. Now if there is loads of different endings, how many gameplay does it really have? 200 hours?
Gameplay score: 9.5/10
Music
Amazing music, what else I have to say? Every music has its own kind of flavour. Some game music is designed for combat. Why? Because game has loads of combat in it. Some music is designed for mystical gameplay, for investigation games. Witcher 2 has music what it needs. There are music for hardcore combat, mysterious points, difficult discussion points, etc. It has amazing music just for that gameplay. Not everyone have that taste, but for me, it was enough. Where-ever i was, I didn't concentrate on music, because music was fitting, and made the atmosphere as it was supposed to be.
Music score: 10/10
Graphic
Graphics were amazing. I played on the lowest graphics because my computer didn't allow more, and i still had lag issues, but even on lowest, it was just amazing. Now I can imagine that on maximum, it would be just too amazing. I have plans that whenever I get better computer, I want to play this game on better graphics for sure. Forests are detailed, I get feeling that in game, I am actually heavy forest, not in wannabe forest. In ruins, I feel like I am in ruins. In city, I feel like I am actually in city. Graphics are good. So for what I have played and seen:
Graphic score: 10/10
Conclusion
This was my personal opinion of the game. So far best game, of this year. It will become Game of the Year for many players and I hope for many magazines as well. There is only one game on its way for overall victory, but who cares about that? Right now they have the glory, till 11.11.11! Then Skyrim will take all the excitement for themselves. Please do not misunderstand. The glory stays forever, but the 'Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim' has the highest chance to be even better then Witcher 2. But this is another story.
Overall score: 9.8/10
