The witcher 3 has changed everything, this game is now the benchmark for all other rpg's to come. Anyone developing an open world rpg at the moment is going to have to re-evaluate their goals and probably release date. This game is slick, dark and stunningly beautiful, the open world feels perfectly populated with a fine balance of wilderness, populace and explorable rui s and monster infested cave. The combat feels satisfyingly weighted; the differences between fighting humans and the various monsters is clear. The enemies come in all shapes and sizes and it keeps you constantly on your toes while forcing you to perfect your methods. The main story is brilliant and feels like a real epic, but the short side quests and monster hunts really make the world feel like a real place with real communities and consequences. Anyone who even remotely enjoys rpgs or action adventure should buy this.
