Great, but not for me.

By no means do I intend to disrespect this game or its fans. It really is a remarkable game. It's just not for me.

I LOVE OPEN WORLD GAMES! I've spent countless hours/days/weeks playing The Elder Scrolls and Fallout games as well as other open world games like GTA, Red Dead, Watch Dogs, Far Cry, Assassins Creed, etc. But something about The Witcher 3 just didn't click with me. Maybe I'm just getting older? Regardless, here are some of the things I just couldn't put up with.

1. No First Person.

Sure, not all the open world games that I love have it, but in this fantasy setting, I had a real difficult time feeling immersed in the world. "Look at this beautiful world! Actually, no just look at the ground and this dude's back."

2. Lore Lost.

I'm new to the series. I was told that this game would be fairly stand alone.... It isnt. I had an extremely difficult time figuring out who or what they were talking about most of the time. "I must find who ha in wonderflabba to find the yabbadoo."

3. Ho Hum Voice Acting.

Anyone else notice how Geralt's voice sometimes changes in gruffness? Voice acting is a huge deal for me and this game is really hit and miss. Some actors are excellent and others, laughable. Not to mention Geralt's American accent feels so out of place.

4. Clumsy Horse Control.

I often felt like I was back playing Red Dead Redemption, that is until my horse would keep stopping for no good reason at all. Slo Mo combat on horseback is epic in this game. Super fun. But the rest of the time I loathed having to get on "Roach" just to get to a post to fast travel.

5. Forced Subtitles.

I HATE SUBTITLES! You can turn them off in the game, but if someone is speaking to you in a foreign language, you can forget about the translation. You get nothing. "Good day sir!"

6. Repetitive Music.

The game has an awesome soundtrack! I actually kept the CD and not the game. However while playing, it felt like I was hearing the same two tracks on a loop for hours. It forced me to turn it off which was a shame.

7. Tedious Combat.

This was the ultimate buzz kill for me. I know the witcher series is famous for its difficulty. I have no problem with that. I love a challenge. But I struggled to find the combat here very rewarding. It felt more like a chore. Where is the fun in that?

And there you have it. Once again, I'm not saying The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a bad game. Im not saying you shouldn't go out and buy it right now. I'm simply saying, if a large number of these 7 things might irritate you as well, you might want to skip it.
