This game is summarized in three words as "sexy demon hunting".
If you really enjoy open world RPGs and storytelling, play this game. It even has a mode for making the game easy enough to just make your way through the story (and side quests/stories). If what brings you to open world games is more of the sandbox elements and less of the story/world building, this is still a great play but may not be a "10" for you.
My suggestion: play up to reaching the city of Novigrad. This is where I personally felt the game really drew me in and I had gotten used to the game mechanics and controls. If you're still not under its spell by then maybe move on.
With that said, I personally feel like this game represents the art in video games. See it to believe it.
I've made my way through the main story and a large percentage of the side quests. With almost every little path giving a reward. I have the complete edition, and Hearts of Stone was well worth it for someone who enjoyed the game. Will potentially update after I tackle Blood and Wine expansion.
For players who enjoy:
- Open world RPGs
- 3rd person view
- medieval/fantasy/magic style universe
- Don't mind dark storytelling (adult themes, blood and gore, fraught storylines).
- Excellent world-building
- Player decisions that effect story trajectory/outcome
Maybe not the best title for anyone new to videogames and open world RPGs. However like I said, there is a "gentle" mode that lets you smooth over the difficulty quite a bit if you're eager to dive in.
