Bewitched from start to finish..

User Rating: 8.5 | The Witcher: Enhanced Edition PC
I was bewitched 6 hours into playing the Witcher Enhanced Edition which is a spectacular role playing game released last year by CDProject. I will put this as simple as possible. PLAY THIS GAME if you feel like there are no good role playing games right now and you have not played the witcher.

Geralt of Rivia, the main character lost his memory in the beginning and while interacting with some memorable characters in the game, hopes to regain back his memory and understand why people regard him as a legendary monster slayer. The story starts in witcher territory when witchers including Geralt are attacked by an unknown powerful mage searching for witcher secrets. The story also takes a turn into the territory of Vizima which is where the rest of the game plays out. Enter Vizima, a corrupt, slimy, swampy territory that consist of witches, wizards, merchants, crooked cops, diseased places, monsters, etc. It remains for the witcher to step in and either be good or bad.

This game plays like a role playing game from start to finish but much simpler. You get 2 swords: a steel sword and silver sword. The former works with humans and animals while the latter works with monsters and demons. The only thing you have to do is increase the level of effectiveness of each weapon by spending level up points which comes in the flavour of bronce, silver and gold points. You spend bronze points for all level 1 to 2 for weapons, skills and abilities. Silver points are spent on level 3 to 4 for weapons, skills and abilities and gold points are spent for level 5 weapons, skills and abilities. Combat is not stale and everytime you level up or spend your points on a skill, your sword skill changes to match or better the enemy in the level which is a plus. Depending on the choices made by Geralt, you will make enemies and friends along the way and Geralt seems to be a sex addict and women seem to love him.

I did not play the original witcher which came out in 2007 but the enhanced edition of last year looks beautiful although running on an old game engine. I always play my games in surround sound. If you play this game and you have an x-fi sound card, patch the game before you start and other patches to minimize the bugs you will encounter throughout the game. This game has bugs but will NOT discourage you from enjoying the game.
