Beyond the yellow brick road offers something new and fun for Oz fans
Art/Graphics:
Charming anime-style characters (I especially liked Dorothy's and the Spring Witch's character designs - they were both really cute), beautiful scenery (like babbling brooks and rich forests), and story-book style cut-scenes were nicely done. And I found one of the best parts was the opening sequence: where Dorothy and her companions walk along the yellow brick road to a catchy j-pop tune.
Story:
I think both people who are fans of oz stories and those who are new to the phenomena will equally enjoy this game. It deviates from its original story and offers a new adventure where you have to collect eggs after traveling through kingdoms of the four seasons. There are also four witches who correspond to those seasons (instead of east/west, etc) who represented the bosses of the game.
Gameplay:
Dorothy walks about as you use guide her with your stylus on the touch screen's large emerald ball (although this is neat at first, I agree with others that at times I would prefer the use of directional buttons to navigate the scenery). As for the fighting you are suck into battles .. so there is some grinding that occurs - which I don't mind too much. However, there is also a lot of backtracking (you mark your progress on signposts and once you have explored an area you have to travel back to the fork in the road multiple times in a level).
Yet since I loved the art and story so much the negative parts did not take away from the positive! So I would recommend this title to any fantasy fan!
