The Collectors Edition is one of the better golf games I've played.

User Rating: 8.5 | Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 (Masters Collector's Edition) PS3
I purchased the Collectors Edition on launch and have played it every day since then. I like it.

For some perspective, I like golf, I have a set of clubs but I'm not very good. I like video golf and one of my favourite golf games was Jack Nicklaus 6 Golden Bear Challenge from years ago.

What I look for in a golf game is the ability to just sit down and play a round by myself or with a friend - I'm not interested in career mode or online.

The last Tiger Woods game I bought was Tiger Woods 10 and while it was okay, it never really hooked me in.

If you have a choice, opt for the Collector's Edition. The extra courses are on the disc as opposed to having to download them and it's one step closer to have Woods removed from the game by not having him on the cover.

I have no problems with the gameplay or graphics. The game looks good and it's probably the best looking golf game I've seen.

The background music is nice and peaceful. None of that crap EA music that you usually get with EA games. The commentary is okay and I usually play with it turned off.

The face creation is so so, I couldn't quite get my character to look the way I wanted him to.

There's about a 15 to 20 second wait between holes but it's nothing major to complain about.

While I'm no fan of EA's attempt to charge people for extra content, I will give them credit for allowing people to acquire extra courses simply by playing and earning coins. It's a little easier to do on the PS3 than the Xbox, so if you have a choice and don't have money falling out of your butt, go for the PS3 version.

You have the option of buying a course outright or renting it but there's really no reason to rent, just save up and buy the course outright. A course costs 18,000 coins and you usually earn 550 to 650 coins per full round, although you can earn extra coins for playing online, I believe you get 1000 coins if you play four days in a row.

I played 17 games before I could unlock a course and then I played 38 games before I could unlock another. If you play the game a lot, you'll unlock courses its as simple as that.

However, you don't earn coins while playing with a friend offline and you can only earn coins while you're connected to EA's servers.

I played about 15 games online and didn't really experience any problems, only a few disconnects. If an opponent disconnects on purpose, the game tracks that and you get a credited with the win. When you play online you can set what percentage of did not finish your opponents have before they can join your match.

The Tiger Challenge bit is okay but it's a throwaway. I'll give EA credit for putting it in there though, it's something to play if you get tired of just regular rounds.

In about sixty games, the game crashed on exit three times but never during gameplay.

I never tried the game with the Move so I can't comment on that part of the game.

I think the biggest gripe I have with the game is that you can't save your player profile unless you're a member of Playstation Plus. That stinks.

I'm not a big fan of EA, I'm a lesser fan of Tiger Woods but I like video golf and so far, this is some of the best video golf I've played.

The only thing that would have pushed the score higher would have been the ability to create and share golf courses but I guess EA didn't see a profit in that but still, you get over 20 courses and just how many courses do you really need?

While I'm not a fan of games costing $70.00 and coming in regular and collector editions, when you think about it, the collectors edition costs the same as around two rounds of golf and for what you get, it's worth it in my opinion.
