It's worth a try for any video gamer, and a must have for light gun players everywhere.

User Rating: 8.1 | Time Crisis 3 (w/GunCon2) PS2
In the past it's been hard to bring arcade games that involve peripherals to the home market. A lot have failed and very few have succeeded. thankfully Namco's Light gun game, Time Crisis 3, succeeds and In the process has made one fo the best light gun games ever made.

The premise is simple: you take control of two cops set out to a small Mediterranean nation to stop back an invasion. The game is a rail shooter game, and you'll go through a set path, ducking, and firing at enemies along the way. As simple as it is, there is a lot of depth to the gameplay. The game features a weapon switching system that allows you to take control of a pistol, machine gun, shotgun, and grenade launcher, all while fighting back enemies that attack in all sorts of ways. Though the additional 3 weapons are more effective than the pistol in different situations, and are quicker at reloading, they also have a limited amount of ammo, unlike the main pistol weapon. The only way to gain more ammo is by killing a yellow-suited enemy. You also have to reload your gun by ducking. The weapon variety and strategy helps to eliminate a lot of repetition in gameplay and add to the game's intense action feel.

The game is played best with the Guncon 2 controller, it can be played with the standard Playstation 2 controller, but it's just not worth doing so. It's a light gun game and the game's controls is built around the Guncon - so playing it ay other way would be simply wrong. But don't worry, you can often find the game packaged with the gun in a set.

Time Crisis 3 also boasts some additional improvements from the series' past. A more involved storyline, use of events , more interactivity with the background are a few to name. The game features a lot of intense interaction with the environment - you'll see plenty of things exploding and have to avoid plenty of environmental dangers all while fighting off the barrage of enemies.

The story mode of Time Crisis 3 is short, but the game offers much replay value. as you'll play you'll earn more continues to use in the game, unlock rescue missions, and other modes, as well as extra options. Don't worry, even though you'll have to reply the stages, the way the game is made, with the weapon system and stage design, you'll rarely get bored of the game.

Graphics in Time crisis 3 are decent, but amazing for a light gun game. In the past light gun games often have looked pretty simple compared to most other games, but Time crisis beats other light gun games in looks by a mile. The interactivity with the environment is a plus as well as level design.

Sound is passable, voice acting is included, but not amazing by any means. Sound effects in the game are what you expect, and most likely should expect in this game. Background music is pretty generic also. But in the end you won't be playing Time Crisis 3 because of it's sound. You'll be playing it for the awesome gameplay.

Time Crisis 3 excels where other Light gun games fail. It includes very accessible but challenging gameplay, replayability and overall polish. It's not the best game ever made, but it's worth a try for any video gamer, and a must have for light gun players everywhere.
