This is state-of-the-art console FPS? Give me Perfect Dark 64 any day!

Underwhelming. Too cartooney for a shooter. Physics feels unsatisfying and ever-so-slightly off and gunplay at the ''heart'' of the game is nothing above average. Characters you will never care about one way or the other. Soundtrack is boring, very ordinary and workmanlike. Humour is there but to be honest its not belly-laughs, more like one-off smirks...
I'm not sure why this was lauded at the time of release as the next big cross-platform thing ... if so then we are all doomed to lumpy looking games - the result of being lazy ps2 ports.
Time to dig out Perfect Dark (original N64 version thank you!) methinks.

  Despite some evident shortcomings, Timesplitters 2 is an endearing and satisfying title, especially with friends.
