Title: Timesplitters: Future Perfect
Rating: M15+ (High Level Animated Violence)
Cost: $87.99c
Developer: Free Radical
Gameplay: Timesplitters is a first person shooter set all over time, ranging from 1924 – 2401. The story mode begins with Cortez (main character) searching for the time crystals to travel through time. Cortez is accompanied by many different companions during his journey through time, depending on what time period he is in.
Timesplitters displays a lot more than just story mode. There are also challenges to complete so that you can unlock more characters. These unlocked characters can be used in multiplayer mode. There is also arcade mode where you can play with your friends, up to four players, or play online, up to eight players. To add to all these great features there is also mapmaker mode where it is made possible to create your own arcade level that can be used in multiplayer.
Timesplitters is constant action no matter what mode you are playing (excluding map maker mode). It is probably considered to be a lot like other first person shooters but none have as many character options as this. Timesplitters has a total of one hundred and fifty characters to unlock and use which makes this game even more fun and exciting.
Controls: The controls for Timesplitters didn’t take me very long to learn. You will use R2 to shoot, analogue sticks to move, L1 to throw grenades, L2 to aim and R1 to attack people with your gun if your ammo is depleted. There are many other controls like crouch, manual reload, change weapons and change grenades. There are not really any complicated things to learn but the controls are a bit different to other first person shooters.
Graphics: The graphics have improved immensely since the previous game. There is a lot more detail and definition in the character clothing and bodies. In the past to games the characters were a lot blockier but in Future perfect they look a lot more natural. The animated backgrounds and levels are extraordinary and well made, with lots of twists and turns and hiding spots foe multiplayer mode.
Sound: The sound in Timesplitters is magnificent. The soundtracks for each level are different and fit perfectly with the Gameplay and type of land you are playing on. Also the character voices in the cut scenes go perfectly in line with the lip and body movement. The main characters voices are played by Tom Clarke Hill (Cortez, main character), Sarah Mennel (Anya, voice over) and Wayne Forester (Jacob Crow, bad guy).
Replay Value, Recommendation and Conclusion: Timesplitters Future Perfect is a great game especially if you have played the precious two. It is also very funny at times so you will get a bit of a laugh. The story mode won’t take you very long but the multiplayer aspect of the game has endless replay value. It's worth every cent you pay.
Rating: I rate this game 9/10. It would have got a perfect ten if the story mode had been a bit longer.
