Downward Spiral

I own TimeSplitter 2 and beat it 100% two times. There were many aspects of the game I didn't like but a few I did. So, I bought this one. I pretty much hate it. The elements that made the 2nd one good, do not exist in this one. The one thing I like about this one the other didn't have is the arcade feel and the way it talks to you in arcade mode. That said, the game pretty well sucks. I found all the levels to be uninspiring. At least on TimeSplitters 2 I liked the western level, Chicago and a couple of others. I can't say that of any level in this game. The challenge mode is more painful than TimeSplitters 2. When I say painful, I do not mean hard, I mean flat out unenjoyable. For example, race a mechanical cat around a track where the physics on the cat are simply eye jabbing. Shoot syringes at roughly 20 butchered cows that are rushing you in a small room; the gun runs out quickly and you are reloading all the time which takes about 4 seconds. Break things with bricks, your cross hair is a faint translucent white and is hard to see against the background; which in most cases does no matter because the brick is not going where your cross hair is anyway (you know that was not by accident). Even better face off against a group of monkeys, the goal is to collect 25 coins in under 3 minutes, the only problem is the monkeys are always huddled so every time you kill one, one of the other monkeys gets the coin, so every kill puts you further and further behind. I get the feeling the designers seek to make many of the challenge modes flat out annoying and for me, life is way too short. Even though I like finishing games 100%, I won't beat this one 100% because the challenge mode is simply too miserable. I did finish the story mode and it was nothing to speak of. The only aspect of this game I've played many times is Arcade League team death match but since most of the levels suck, that gets old too quickly.
