Splits opinions

User Rating: 8.3 | TimeSplitters: Future Perfect XBOX
The third installment of one of the greatest series in videogame history, and one of the most popular. Timesplitters 1 was well liked, Timesplitters 2 was loved the world over and Timesplitters 3-well...you either love it, hate it, or are very disappointed. I fit into the latter category. I found timesplitters 2 in the bargain bin and bought that, and while I thought it was good, I decided to sell it. It simply didn't stack up to the competition of today. So, I went to HMV and bought myself a copy of Future Perfect.
I think I'm going to get the bad things out of the way first. The glitches in co-op. Honestly, they are the worst glitches I have seen. Me and my friends were respawning constantly, into different rooms, into different areas. Considering that multiplayer is the focus of the Timesplitters series this is a big letdown. The next problem-the endless puzzles in the story mode. These are devestatingly annoying. You find yourself blasting at tanks, shooting away bad guys and generally having a really good time, then all of a sudden the game throws a puzzle at you for no reason-'find this' and 'find that'. I don't want puzzles in my shooters! I just want to shoot! The character animation is also laughable. The graphics are fine and all, but considering this is an Xbox it should be better. It seems as though PS2 character models have jumped into an Xbox rendered environment.
Now onto the good. The multiplayer, aside from the co-op mode, is sublime. Timesplitters always hits the nail on the head when it comes to killing your friends! And, as I've mentioned before, the weapons. These are a joy to handle-harpoons, flare guns, you name it. The good thing about these aswell is that you can decide which weapons will be used in a game. Any ones you like. The story mode is alos very funny and will give you real belly laughs. So, the big question-should you buy it? I would say rent it first. If you like it, then give it your money.
