A great substitute for Halo 2, with a good offline mode.

User Rating: 9 | Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2: Summit Strike XBOX
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2: Summit Strike is a expansion to the original Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2. It adds a whole new story mode and new multiplayer maps. The campaign mode has you searching out some terrorist general after he kills a president of some country. Ok it really doesnt matter, just right somebody's wrongs by killing people. The campaign consists of 14 missions. Each of these missions you are given an objective to complete. You get your squad of 3 men and you (hey that adds up to 4 men!). The A.I. in the game is fairly good, enemies will normally take cover and provide covering fire as thier buddies flank you. Your squad is also pretty smart and will normally not get in your way. You have the basic squad tactics: suppress, flank left and right, and advance, but they are just better off following you. There are also a bunch of other offline modes. There is defend, firefight, recon, lone wolf, and helo hunt. Also a few more. Defend has you and your squad defending a location for 10 minutes. Firefight has you killing people by yourself. Recon awards you points for moving across the map to certian points without getting seen (just think Splinter Cell with bigger guns). Lone wolf has you taking on the missions alone (I think). Finally helo hunt has you taking on waves of enemy helecopters, which can be quite fun and difficult. The great thing is that all these modes can be played with up to 4 people on one Xbox, or 16 people on a system link or over XBL. Every single game mode can be played like that. This game is a very good party game if all you want to do is shoot things. The Xbox Live play is great. There are 3 modes, Co-Op, Squad, and Solo. Co-Op is just that, it has you and your buddies agianst the AI. Each of the single player modes can be played under this. Squad is the team death match kind of gameplay. There is squad shootout, squad siege, squad double siege, last man standing (which is the most popular), and a few more that never get played. Last is the Solo mode, that is you agianst all the other players in the game. Also you and your friends can all play over Xbox live in any of the modes, which is nice. The graphics are very good. The environments are big and open and have a lot of detial. The trees and other foliage look especially good. The only problem is some maps have to many trees and the framerate drops, a lot. This is its major problem with the graphics, the framerate is almost never steady, and that leads to some problems. The sound also is not the best I have ever heard. All the guns sound the same, and the explosions just dont have that real sence of something blowing up, like in Halo 2 or Brothers In Arms. Overall this game is great. The single player game is fun, and the huge list of Xbox Live options is great. If you are sick of Halo 2, this game is for you (hey that rhymes).
