Let me start off by saying, I have never been a big fan of the Rainbow Six series. I HATED the first one in the series. It drove me nuts how it took like half an hour of setting up your crew, picking weapons, etc. just to get in a game. And then after all that, you get shot in like 1 min. and have to do it all over again. The game was ugly, sluggish, and wasn't fun. Then I played Rainbow Six 3 for Xbox. I thought I would give the series another chance. Many people liked it and maybe the game had improved. Much to my delight, it had improved quite a bit. But, the single-player campaign was boring and the A.I. of your team was completely stupid. The game turned into more of a trial-and-error style of gameplay where you would remember where enemies were from before you died, so at that point the game got too easy. Needless to say, this is a better multi-player game in my opinion. Which is another problem I have with the game. If I want to play a fun tactical military-style shooter online, I will boot up Counter-Strike.
Even after saying all that, I gave this game a chance also. Well, that was a waste of cash. I am not saying this is a bad game at all. In fact, the game is well put together, has great multiplayer (for some people), nice graphics, excellent sound, etc. It's just not my kind of first-person shooter. And I am not someone who loves to only play games like Quake or Unreal Championship for my FPS multiplayer needs. I just don't have a real need for anything this game offers. The one player experience is shallow and very boring after awhile. And like I said before, if I want to play a online FPS, I will boot up CS. I gave this game a decent rating because I know other poeple out there would like or love this game.
Even in saying that, this new RS3 is definately more expansion-pack than new game. It's just more of the same really. So if you really liked the other Rainbow Six games, then you know what to expect and that's probably a good thing. If you didn't like the previous games in the series (like myself), then this game is definately not going to change your mind.
