RS3 on the PS2 has the same gameplay and fun factor as the XBOX, but it loses some graphical and gameplay values.

User Rating: 7.9 | Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3 PS2
I will review this game based upon my game play on the PS2. I will not compare it to the XBOX version because I feel that it is not a sufficient way to review a game when you compare it to a system that differs drastically.

Graphics ~ The graphics are fairly nice for a PS2 game. It isn’t fantastic, but it is still good enough so that you can make out everything. Only complaint is that it seems some guns have a clipping problem. It seems that the DE.50 has the trigger hammer floating in the middle of your hand. So that’s one thing that is kind of annoying but it doesn’t hinder the game play.

Game play ~ The game play is a tactical, first-person shooter. The game is slow progress but overall it is rewarding to people who likes realistic shooters than the run-and-guns that are out in today’s market. You can die in just a few shots and there are no health packs or upgrades throughout the game.

For guns, you can choose from a wide range of real life weapons. The game features the most common weapons you see all the time as well as some exotic weapons that are in existence but you most likely haven’t seen them since they are used by different countries around the world. Among your weapons, you have a fair amount of grenades and other equipments to choose from.

For the levels, it is a bit small. Each map features at least two “load” points instead of one giant level. After progressing so much in the level, you will come across a screen that says you have reached the halfway point do you wish to continue. Of course this is a bit annoying since I expected that it would be one giant level.

Now onto the game actual game play. The game plays out nicely. Your enemy’s AI is fairly aggressive compared to most game. They are still “stupid” but you will see a lot of effort made by your enemies to stop you. They will cover behind a wall, they will run away, and most importantly, they try to use some type of tactic to try and stop you. Also, you can use your team in some type of tactical movement. You can choose to break into a room and flash bang all the enemies so that you can break in in total surprise. Only complaint is that sometimes your teammates walk right in front of you while you’re shooting. That is always annoying.

Conclusion ~ Overall I like this game. Then again, I like all the Tom Clancy games, lol. But seriously, if you haven’t played the XBOX version of the game, I think you will like this game a lot if you are a tactical shooter person. It is up there with SOCOM 3 and all those other great games out now. I must warn you that the game is slow, and if you like action and more action, then stay away from this game. Also, if you are a XBOX fan (I played both versions as well as the RS3:BA version) and can look past the graphics and other flaws, I think you will see that this is a very good game.
