Good squad based first action shooter

User Rating: 8.3 | Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Lockdown GC
Rainbow Six has big name within and so the expectatives may be to big. But lets start with the simplest thing, is not the best FPS out there nor the worst for GC.

Now for the details.

You're in command of an anti-terrorist squad and, of course, in the midle of an epic proportions crisis, a bio weapon has been acquired by some big guns and you have to get it back.

For the gameplay you can switch a big gun with a handgun along the game, but not allowed to carry on a full arsenal. Despite the vatriey of weapons is very likely you'll find your favorite and stick with it. You also will have access to a variety of secondary items like grenades and other devices, including a motion sensor wich allows you to "see" through walls an thus preparing your attacks in consequence. This last can spoil some of the surprises but is nothing you need to depend on.

You can give some simple commands to your team to follow you or hold, and also to set up for room clearing, and, for example, coordinate an attack in two fronts. As expected, your team nor you are invulnerables are there are no "medkits" along your path; when someone is gone is gone for good until the end of the mission.

There are some special missions where you need to provide sniper coverage, specially when your team is infiltrating some enemy facilities. Altough this is fun is very restricted compared to the standard gameplay, and sometimes feels like it was not fully developed.

Some good adittions are the opportunity to replay each mission with a different focus, like terrorist hunt, or sniper (where appliable). There is also a cooperative mode, unfortunately there is no a cooperative story line and you'll be playing same missions that those for the single player campaign.

One more thing is that all the weapons as well as the cheat codes are bought with "inteli" points, which you need to find in the campaign mode.

Ok, now to the graphics and sound.

There are some really good scenarios as well as some cool effects, specially in your visor, like raindrops and moist in some enviroments. Also, the damage will be very noticeable as your visor starts to crack.

Unfortunately, there are is very specific limits to the graphics showing gradient in some sky views as well as in darkness open enviroments.

Also the cinematics seem with some low quality compression.

The sound is great and, despite the annoying your teammates can be, is very rich.

Finally, there are some problems with the frame rate, specially when playing in split screen, and that really gets in the way.

If you're a fan of FPS, you should definitevely try this one. If your a Tom Clancy's series fan, perhaps you should approach with care.
