To be honest, the Gamespot review kind of puzzled me. I got my game the 28th(exact date it came out because my gamestop got it early).I got it about 5 pm and played maybe 4 hours and when I went on gamespot I saw a score of 8.6, I was so angry. This definatley deserved higher than a 9.4...... So anyways starting with the single player, the gameplay is awesome..you have tons of new moves you can preform on guards. If you set the difficulty to hard you have tons of fun playing it, although if you are new to the series you might prefer normal, which is also kind of challenging. My favorite new feature is having a knife, Nothings better than coming up to a guard, grabbing him, interrogate him and then slit his throat or stab him in the back. The storyline is great and keeps you in the game. The Graphics are terrific, definately deserved a 10 on the review and so did thr sound. Nothing is better than turining of the lights, putting up the volume and playing some Chaos Theory. The XBOX live portion is back, which was introduced in Pandora Tommorow. This time around, they added an "exam", which you must past in order to play. I think it's a good idea, that way no noobs will be running around mindlessly. Although it's pretty easy, it'll get the job done. The maps are sometimes pretty big, but that is solved by a feature(in the tutorial) section which enables you to get used to the enviornment so next time you wont get ownt badly trying to find where to go. overall, in my opinion everyone should pick this game up. I dont care what type of games you like it's a must buy for everyone, especially all splinter cell vets.
