Great game whether you have online or not. Read for a good summary of what to expect.

User Rating: 8.8 | Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory PS2
This game is plain fun. What can I say? It just really is. People are bashing the ps2 version of the game because it doesn't match up with x-box and pc versions, but IMO, this game is still absolutely amazing. Gameplay in sp is absolutely great. I love it. I just seem to have a whole lot of fun hearing that little "sweesshh" when I stick my knife into someones torso. It's definitely more fun than previous games where you could only elbow someone to knock them out. Now, you finally choose whether you kill them or KO them using melee attacks rather than guns...and trust me, it's a whole lot more fun to get close and use your knife rather than your gun. The cool part also, is that depending on what angle you take a guy at, whether you're standing or crouching, and whether you KO or kill them, Sam has a different animation for each. Along with that, finding different ways to eliminate your enemies really makes for a fun experience. You can choose from a variety of thinks depending on your surroundings. You can either go for an inverted neck snap/sleeper hold, or you can wait for them to come to you and stick a knife into their stomach. You can even kill the guys by shooting fire extinguishers if you're lucky enough to have a guy be near one. And then it's so fun to push someone off the edge of w.e it is you're closest to the edge of and to drown them in the water after pulling them in with you. You'll definitely have a lot of fun with the variety of ways to deal with your enemies in this game. My only real reason for dropping the score 1, is because online is kinda tired now, especially since those a-holes over at ubi didn't give any new upgrades to the ps2 online version except for 4 new maps. I've played online for Pandora Tomorrow and it's more or less the same experience. And as for the co-op mode...don't waste your time on it. The coolest part of it is the training. The rest of it is just extremely idiotic. You go into missions that involove literally like 4 guys max that can be rushed through in literally a min. or two. Then it sends you to the next area for the same thing over again. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy too many checkpoints and short "missions" that it's just really not worth even checking it out at all. It's way to annoying and inconvenient, and then breaks the game up way too much. Graphics are spectactular. I don't know how anyone can complain about them. I'm not just a ps2 fan boy who thinks the crappiest graphics are amazing just because they're on ps2. People bash the graphics on top of that, which I really can't understand why. If x-box and pc have better graphics, then good for them. But as far as I'm concerned, the graphics that the ps2 manages to provide are still pretty damn impressive at times. Sound......um......nothing really. Same old sounds, I just really like some of the music that they play in single player so that's why I gave it the 8. I'm one of those people who likes to go back to games and this game is definitely a game that I'll be playing for a while just because it's plain fun. Along with the online to boot, can keep me here for a good while. Gave it a 9 because, well, I think you can figure it out. I just hate when my online doesn't work or I get ass-whooped by some level 3 or 4 jackasses online who do nothing but play this game 24/7. I never could understand how those people could drop, not even a smoke grenade, just a chaff and get around me in a heartbeat and break my neck, whereas I would end up dropping like 2 or 3 smokes along with maybe a flash/chaff (depending on my equipment) and they'd still end up tazing me. Never did understand. All in all, great game. If you don't have online, still get the game because you definitely will have a pretty good time with the single player aspect of the game.
