Too much action for a "Stealth" game, so if you like being stealthy stear clear.

User Rating: 5.5 | Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction PC
As far as stealth games go Conviction is pretty poor, as far as action games go it's as well pretty poor, but dont think Im just blowing this game off becuase Im a fan of the old ones, no I did play through the game, and tried every little aspect so instead of ranting I'll rate this game on what a Splinter Cell game should be like

Stealth: The Core
Conviction brains itself on this aspect, of the game instantly, unlike the other games there is no meter telling you just how "well" your hidden, instead the world goes monochrome except important things like enemies, and exploding barrels, etc, but, the stealth is what made Splinter Cell great, and knowing just how well the shadow behind this box concealed you made the stealth part not only a thought process, but also an aspect that meant you were never truly hidden, now in Conviction, you never know how well your hidden, because you either are or rent, so I don't know if I take a step in this direction, im suddenly completely visible, to everyone in the room.

Stealth combat: The manly way to fight
You come across a gaurd wielding a shotgun what do you do?
Well before I would have tried to sneak past, and if that proved imposible, snap his neck, if that to isn't an option, THEN ,and only then use a SINGLE valueable pistol round! But in conviction that isn't the standard procedure for dealing with gaurds option, since most gaurds stand in your way, forcing you to use your pistol, but before your ammo was like gold, being the most valuabe thing in the game, bur know you have unlimited ammo, making what used to be a tense sequence were you prayed that the guy dosen't move at the last second to just unloading everyround you have, with no consiquence, but if you do try to be stealth the game turns, into repetion quickly, how so? Let me sum it up for you in three easy steps

1. snap a guys neck
2. Mark and execute as many people as possible
3. Finish any survivors in a cloud of bullets

So stealth combat is a joke especialy that you usually carry, an unscilenced back up weapon with limited ammo, which made me kind of angry that they did away, with the affective rifle, which was moderetly scilened but also allowed you to fire all your little gadgets long distances with deadly accuracy, but know you throw all your gadgets, reducing the range, and overall use of your special items, except that they arrent special, most are explosives, which instantly alert everyone nearby, oh and the sticky cameras which could quickly and silently dispatch large groups of foes, explodes now, rendering it useless for stealth.

Direct Combat: A stupid option
So the classic splinter cell huh, your up against 15 shotgun wielding thugs head on huh? What ya going to do restart to the last checkpoint obviously, since direct combat, is the same as trying to frying pan a Tank to death in Left 4 Dead, and was recomended as often as swalowing paint, but know they expect you to take on hight armed, basterds, head on, especially since there's a whole level set in Iraq which is pure head on action, know let me clarify soemthing I wouldn't have minded the combat of they had added one thing, one little thing that would have made combat better armor, something anything that classified as armor, since before being shot was the ultimate sign of failing, know your bound to get shot, so giving the player the same resitance as in the old, games, especially sinced this one is more combat focused seemed like a stupid idea, so in the end combat turns into ducking behind a table, blowing away anyone that comes close, and hoping that they dont take you out with a insta kill head shot

Nit picks: The nit and gritty
SO obviously since if you study up on this game, and its devolopment you'd figure out that the developer had to completely rework the entire game, after a not so friendly reception when they first unvieled to making the game feel a little unfinised, like little animation that are missing which could have flushed out the world, weak mechanics, crappy enemy AI, slap dash story, and 5 hour campain because yes you can finish this game in five hours, which is exactly how long it took me since, I just played a demo on Onlive, which if your lucky the demo last five hours, which is just the perfect amount of time to let me finish the game, so if they just put a little more work into this it could have been new/different but, still the Splinter Cell that first drew me in
