While far from revolutionary, this game throws a couple minor tweaks for the franchise in and satisfies the player.

Let's get this out in the open - I already beat the original Xbox game before I played this version. I prefer that one. They may have the same title, but the games are very different on the different console generations. The missions are different, the locations are different, but the story remains basically the same. You play as Sam Fisher, a grizzled veteran Splinter Cell agent working for the NSA who's task is infiltrating a terrorist organization called John Brown's Army (JBA) situated in New York City. The only thing that really separates this game from the others in the Splinter Cell series is the trust system. Performing certain objectives as opposed to others will earn you trust by the JBA but lose some NSA trust, or vice versa. The non-linear gameplay really shows when you do missions that take place in the JBA headquarters building. You are free to do any of your objectives and obtain any information about JBA members as you please in whatever order you prefer. You just have to make sure that you aren't caught in a restricted area and that you make it back to your original location in the given time limit. Now, I bought this game for a mere ten Canadian dollars. Which is really cheap. And when you can get a fun game like this for that cheap, you really can't miss out. So don't. Go out and buy this game if you think it'd be your cup of tea (which it should be if you enjoy any kind of action games).
