Clunky controls and poor graphics are the only thing that hold back this game from being the best stealth game for PSP

User Rating: 7.5 | Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Essentials PSP
Splinter Cell is one of the finest stealth action series, and after years of console games it now makes its way onto the PSP.

Graphics: 2/4
While you can't expect great graphics coming from a PSP, the picture is really dark and the graphics could be better. You have to adjust the brightness up really high to be able to see, and once you do, you see that the textures are really poor looking.

Gameplay: 3.5/4
The style is similar to that of Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow. It's pretty much and exact copy of it in terms of the gameplay. It involves sneaking through various maps from all the splinter cell games, knocking out guards from behind, shooting your way through detection and using cool looking action moves to take down enemies.

Story: 2.5/4
The story brings nothing new to the series. The entire game is really just made from some of the most important missions in the series, from the first splinter cell all the way up to Double Agent.

Controls: 1.5/4
The worst part about this game is the controls. Now, the default control is that you must move with the one analog circle and to move the camera you hold down O and move the analog around which is VERY FRUSTRATING to have to stop after every second to center the camera back. However, you can change the setting to where the Triangle X Square and O buttons move the camera but only when you have the camera mode on (by pressing the down arrow) which allows simultaneous movement and camera control, though you still must push the down arrow again if you wish to use the buttons to control actions of Sam.

In all, this is a decent game to own if you wish to get your stealth action fix when a console is not available, otherwise, buy Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory for the xbox.
