Splinter Cell is one of the best reasons to own an X-Box and it is the first game to take stealth-action and make it really fun and really aboit stealth. Splinter Cell unlike Metal Gear Solid and similar games is built to allow you to really remain stealthy to accomplish your mission. Throughout the game you stick to the shadows and move quietly to either sneak up on or to sneak past guards, cameras and the like. The gadgets and moves Sam has make every encounter unique as you have many ways to dispose of or avoid being seen by the enemy. The controls are intuitive, the graphics and sound are great, and the levels are well designed. THe story is also good if you are able to grasp it but for me at least it took a second plahythrough to really understand what was going on. The game's major drawback is that it often boils down to trial and error to figure out what do do in each encounter and this will severely frustrate many gamers as it did me. Overall though it must be said that Splinter Cell was an incredible game that really did redefine the genre.
