I hope it's the first of a series for Xbox.

Tomb Raider Legend had everything you want from a Tomb Raider game: good action, good puzzles, cool environments and, of course, a gorgeous heroine.

But it departed somewhat from the earlier games in that the game definitely traded more challenging environments, and less-obvious, complex puzzles, for a more straight-forward, fast-paced style of gameplay.

Tomb Raider Legend was probably the easiest Tomb Raider game I've ever played. I don't think I was stuck even once wondering where I should go. And I don't think I had to check a walkthrough for the solution to any of the puzzles. I think that this went a long way to making a short-ish game seem even shorter. Also, the vehicle sequences were also a lot of fun, but again, not particularly challenging (I don't think I had to redo one of them).

But the game is just so fun, and so immersive, that these things are only evident in retrospect.

The graphics are very, very good. The story was also really compelling: I liked the inclusion of the King Arthur myth. Also, the non-player characters added a lot of depth. I found it interesting that all of the non-player characters were somewhat ambivalent in that there wasn't really one, central bad-guy. Another nice addition to the game was alot of dialogue from Lara Croft, which isn't in the earlier games except for the cutscenes.

The bar for a Tomb Raider game is very high. It's easy in retrospect to point out the elements from older games that were missing, but it's important not to forget that the experience of the game is very immersive, and the game is one of the funner games out there for Xbox.
