Like Star Trek and Batman, Lara gets a reboot that works!

I have only played it for a short while so far, but I am suitably impressed!

When it comes to movies, I used to hate the 're-boot' heading films got when they had realised they had taken a series into a dead end, and had to go back to the beginning again. It was for that very reason that I wasn't excited about 'Batman Begins' or the new 'Star Trek', but they worked!

And that is how I now feel about the new Tomb Raider. Where unbridled fantasy-in-the-real-world has seemingly lost its appeal. Take the characters that we know and love, and while keeping the action and familiarity of Lara Croft, put her in a more realistic and gritty world, where good and bad are blurred into shades of grey. Look back at Atlantis and King Arthur with fond memories, folks. The 21st Century sees gaming's favorite orphan return, but with a difference. So far (6% Complete!) you feel the vulnerability, confusion, fear and lack of confidence in the academic girl who starts the game. You know who she is set to become, but the journey is not going to be an easy one! You are set to get your hands dirty, and in the name of survival, do things that you will not look back on with pride. But sometimes, to save yourself you have to embrace the shadows and do what you must.

I am excited to see where the game takes me, as I have only just met up with the other survivors for the first time!

Bravo Square Enix (I'd expect nothing less from the developers of Final Fantasy!)
