Great transitions between engaging story-line, puzzle solving, action. Conveniently placed save points (camp sites) minimizing re-work after dying. Love the upgrades path in skills and equipment. Good sense of continual accomplishment. In actuality a linear game but doesn't have that feel. The linear aspect is actually a good thing - very open ended feeling world and prevents too much pointless wandering. Laura's death scenes are brutal - even for a guy whose very desentized they were pretty graphic and don't think I'd let my kids anywhere near it. Adds to the realism and really incents you to not get killed. Nice use of the "awareness" feature to help point you in the right direction when you're turned around. One of the best most balanced games I've played in some time.
