The old heroine from the 90's trades in her signature dual guns for bow and arrow.
Not only the story, but the characters placed in it are all very charming. Each and everyone of them has a different personality, and they all grow on you. Especially Lara herself. Character development is handled perfectly as she grows from an uncertain naive college student into the busty die hard heroine we all know and love. One of the things i disliked was the removal of Lara's trademark dual guns (even though they make a cameo appearance eventually), but her new arsenal of weapons and other gadgets well makes up for it.
The story reminded me a bit of Lost. Stranded on an island with a small group of survivors, desperately trying to find a way off only to discover that something or someone is keeping them from leaving. It's the kind of story you just want to finish no matter how long it takes. It gives you classical Tomb Raider mysteries and action scenes, but in a fresh new coat.
The gameplay and visual quality are near perfect. The camera angle is never annoying and keeps you focused on the action. Multiple weapons and ways to kill your enemies will never make the combat dull and keeps you satisfied. Throughout the game you can use experience points to upgrade Lara's abilities, and scavenge for spare parts to upgrade your weapons, giving you even more ways to take care of anyone standing in your way.
Long story short, it's a game you simply must have in your collection, even if the previous Tomb Raider games weren't to your liking. Easily 9.5/10 (Yeah, i took off 0.5 because the villain was kind of a stereotype :P)
