Decent, but only a one play through type game. Get it on sale, or pass it by.

I love the early Tomb Raider series, and the recent remakes (Tomb Raider 1&2, Anniversery, Legend, and Underworld), but I did not feel the need to buy this one. It was on sale on Steam for 25 dollars so I bought it, and it was OK, but nothing great in any way. Sometimes when your expectations are low the content may change your mind, but not in this case.

After the first play through I do not care to ever play it again. Unlike Borderlands 2 (which I also hesitated to buy till it was on sale), or Bioshock Infinite. Both of which I immediately wanted to play again, and again, and find every hidden aspect. I believe that is how games should be made. Those are two great examples of great gameplay and great story.

This game, it seems they were more interested in telling a good story, then in making a great game, and they ended up making a mediocre story, and a forgettable game. It follows in the Uncharted 3's footsteps, but is not as good. I thought Uncharted's story was much better, but the gameplay was not compelling in that one either.

I believe the story should compliment the gameplay, not simply having gameplay to progress a story, like this one feels like.

The cinematics are good, but the quicktime additions were annoying. I normally enjoy leveling up my character, and finding hidden sections, but when the end credits rolled I have no desire to ever play this one again.

Bottom line: It was just OK. I am glad I did not pay full price.
