It's Got Ups And Downs, But Still A Solid Tony Hawk Title
You play as a dude who has left his hometown after he found out his girlfriend is cheating on him, and his Dad says he's wasting his life because he's always on his board out skating. You get on a bus to LA (where you endure miles of a dumb blonde talking to you), and when you get off, a girl named Mindy befriends you, and introduces you to Iggy Van Zandt, and that's where your adventure begins to build the ultimate skate park.
The game says it features "NO LOADING SCREENS" but there still is. This only refers to the Story Mode, and even then, loading screens have been replaced with what I'd call "Loading Tunnels" These tunnels connect the entire area of L.A. for you to skate around uninteruppted, but these are repetitive and really, it's easier just to take the bus (seriosuly, there's a bus). There is loading screens in the Story Mode, and other than the tunnels, when the game needs to load something, your skater starts flipping his board back and forth until it's loaded. The game is dead easy. I've finished it on the hardest setting (the first time in any Tony Hawk game). The unoockables are great, and my favourite unlockable is... BILLY JOE ARMSTRONG OF GREEN DAY! The graphics are pretty basic for a PS2, but the cutscenes look great, the music and sound affects are what are expected of a Tony Hawk game, so there's nothing new there. The story is funny, with intresting characters and some good jokes.
Overall, THAW is a solid title, but has many glitches and offers lots to unlock, though it's not entirely fun unlocking them.
