I think that American Wasteland will appeal to hard core gamers and skaters, but everyone else might not like it as much

User Rating: 8.9 | Tony Hawk's American Wasteland PS2
American Wasteland is a fluid, fun game if you are a skater, a hardcore gamer, or just someone looking to play a skating game. The story mode is fun and watching Skate Ranch go up is cool. However, (no loading) isn't exactly true. While making your tag, you can see a rotating star showing that there is loading. Also, when going from parts of the city, you ride through a linear hallway of sorts. For example, to get from Hollywood to Beverly Hills, you go through a mall of sorts.

The game has glitches here and there, but nothing that will severely turn you away from the game. Compared to the other games, its extremely fluid, unlike THUG 2 which felt clunky. Another cool addition is bikes, which are fun to ride and good alternative if one of the story missions is hard.

That brings me to my last point. The story mode in American Wasteland helps you a little too much. If there is something you need to grind, it puts you right in front of it, removing some of the challenge. Not to say the missions aren't unique and different unlike some previous installments.

I think that if you're a skater (me) and a hardcore gamer (myself) you will enjoy this game deeply. Everyone else will have a good time, but probably not as much.
