Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 is the last entry into the original series and as such it's the culmination of a tried formula.

Ever since the first game in the series, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater set a new standard in the genre. It's solid and pleasant game play combined with a very good presentation made for a very enjoyable game, even if you were not into skater or sports games. The fourth installment is no different. The game is easy to learn and hard to master and enjoyable on both levels. The game play is very solid due to a tight control scheme and very pleasant because of it's fun and often hilarious goals the player receives from the various characters placed in the game world. These goals present a proper challenge while not being overly difficult. While not groundbreaking, the visuals are very clean and get the job done. You can customise your skater with a plethora of stylish or wacky apparel and decks for your board which makes for a very nice feature. The sound effects are also up to snuff, but the game's soundtrack is especially good. As is usual in the series it consists of a nice compilation of contemporary music from various genres that fit the skating theme. By now you should be able to pick up this game at very low price, which makes for great value and that's all the more reason to give this game a try even if you are only remotely interested.
