It doesn't do much innovation,or adds anything new to THPS formula, but it retains the same solid game play.
The graphics are very good, but that isn't to say they're perfect.Facial textures are extremely blurry and look pretty ugly to be honest.Every thing else rocks in this category though, the frame rate is steady and usually never lags behind, level design is spot on for skating in,character models are pretty detailed to how you customize them, and everything is extremely well done for the most part.
The sound design is full of a wide variety of tracks. Most are appealing to hear and listen to,but some songs might be unappealing to your taste in music.Sound effects are just great, even though most of them have been recycled from previous games, they still represent what they're trying to create splendidly.
THPS' winning game formula is back!Skating around has never been better.THPS4 retains the same trick system from previous games,it all works well and is extremely fluid.I really don't know how to describe as to how this game plays, you can grind, pull a trick off a half-pipe,create your own skate park with a level editor that works, and just generally skate around. The levels you'll play in are all unique and have their own funny and outrageous sense to them. The game is just fun.
Whats bad?Nothing really.Except that the fact that the game doesn't add any innovation whats so ever really,it feels like the developer played it safe, and just put out another game for profit, not to say the games bad,far from it.
Final Verdict:The fourth THPS game,is a superb success. They moved the series so far from this, and its a shame. This really was to my recollection, the last "great" Tony Hawk game.If you've played previous installments, then you should definitely check this title out.
