Tony Hawk's Pro Skater is a racing game with an alternate mode on a half-pipe. The game was pretty easy to understand. You are racing the computer on a very linear course. If you grind you go faster. If you crash then you better grind a lot or you are going to lose. Thats pretty basic. They gave you a selection of characters to choose from each with their own set of stats, but honestly I can't see a difference between any of the characters. However, it is still pretty fun for the first hour or so, and its pretty addicting for a while. The other mode you just skate on a half-pipe. You can do a couple of tricks but the games reaction time isn't very good and chances are you won't pull of the trick you wanted to.
All in all, Tony Hawks Pro Skater was a decent game for its time and can be a nice little afternoon treat after a day of school.
