Tony Hawk Pro Skater can be seen as a game that brought the concept of the skating game to a new level. This first installment of the Tony Hawk (TH) series can be seen as the blueprint of every xtreme sports game that followed in later years. THPS can be seen as a game that is easy to pick up and play, but difficult to master. The game offers gamers a challenge which varies it difficulty from level to level. There is plenty of variety within the levels and each level gives you something new. GAMEPLAY is straight forward, simple yet effective which will keep you coming back for more. The gameplay is challenging and offers gamers variety. Its not a game that can be easily completed - the later games in the series such as the titles on the PS2 have an easier learnig curve and overall i feel offer less a challenge than the original titles.
Graphics
Overall the graphics are pretty impressive and offer some neat touches. Compared to other Skate boarding titles such as 'Grind Session' (another title for the PS) the graphics are crisp in comparison and you get a feeling that everything fits into the overall game experience
Sound
The game offers a great soundtrack. The soundtrack for the series has made improvements in later titles, which has enabled the games to appeal towards a wider audience.
The sound effects in the game are effective and fit nicely into the games environment.
An important landmark in the series.
