Not something you might like at first, but definitely grows on you.
Before Project 8 my favorite Tony Hawk game was Underground. The game just felt right, it had good challenges, it wasn't too difficult and it was very enjoyable. It was a game I wanted to beat. Project 8 instilled this game feeling on to me and it's still fun even after beating it.
The game is about Tony getting the best skater's around to be a part of his group called "Project 8". Your job is to climb up the rankings of skaters by doing various goals and getting either an Amateur, Pro or Sick rating. Amateur is usually pretty easy to get, Pro can be a little challenging, but Sick is just ridiculous. This is one of my few complains about that game. Sick is RETARDED at times and can just make the game frustrating when you're trying to climb up the ranks.
Another problem is when you're switching from place to place such as City Park to Slums. It could be an unintentional switch, but this still causes the game to obviously load, as it starts lagging and can sometimes disrupt your combo if you have one going. It's not a big issue but it's something I complain about.
Flaws aside, this game is just very fun. The graphics are great, the camera angles are awesome when you enter focus mode (basically makes everything slo-mo) and Nail-a-Trick (new mode) and it adds excitement to the game. I definitely recommend this.
