Well its not quite upto par with skate 2, but with a few tweaks it could have been! Great game overall
Heres the good points :
THPG is alot more realistic than previous games with its features including nail a trick, nail a grind and nail a manual. You control the tricks you want to do, control the rotations, the flips, the direction the board is going in, its amazing and gives you the feel that you do actually play a part on how the tricks and done and gives you a insight into skating rather than mashing buttons like on previous games.
The storyline of the game is that you are a low profile skater that wants to make it big, you have to prove yourself to the city you have what it takes to make it and get sponsors and a team on the way. You have some well known skaters in the mix with the likes of Mike Vallely & Ryan Sheckler. Theres some good tasks along with a nice world built up in which you can skate in.
The scenery is nice and theres you can string so much in the area's that are in the game.
The graphics from my view are really good, crisp in my eyes and there is a large amount of custimisation open to your character. The way you can build random objects wherever you are is a really good feature too, say for instance you are in a area and need a vert to get on top of a building, you can build one aslong as it is not blocking anything on the scenery already.
There's a lot of real skate footage and a lot of sponsors, its nice to see the real thing being put into a game and see the talent of the pro's for real if the gamer has never seen skating videos before
Right time for the bad points :
The most annoying thing is that the way you can string a combo together for like 20 minutes and trick off of 200ft high rooftops and able to land them is just near to insanity, in reality not even pro's could do that it just goes against physics.
The cutscenes on my game glitch out sooo bad, the sound goes buggy and the video goes all jittery, it goes off after the cutscene is supposed to stop but if your playing a game and your getting crazy noises at every objective cutscene you get its not a nice thing to have to put up with, its probably just my game but I'm just warning you guys.
There's quite a lot of bugs and glitches I have came across where the player will get stuck in a building or just randomly fly when im up high and near a boundary. Every game has there glitches though and there's not too many so it doesnt make a difference to gameplay as you will find one every so often.
My overall verdict on the game :
THPG is a great game to play if your looking for a relaxing game or a game generally for fun. If your looking for something more realistic I'd opt for Skate 2. If you can pick this game up for less than £15 then you have bagged yourself a game worthy of your game collection because every one knows it's always fun to crack out a nice skating game when your bored.
I hope this review has helped all to have read, It's my first so criticism is more than welcome so I have an idea on how to improve my future reviews.
